Pillow loft by sleep position

Back sleepers

Medium loft (10โ€“13 cm thick). Keeps neck aligned with spine. Memory foam or latex contour pillow ideal.

Side sleepers

High loft (13โ€“17 cm). Fills the gap between shoulder and ear. Buckwheat, latex, or shredded memory foam best.

Stomach sleepers

Low loft (5โ€“8 cm) or NO pillow under head. A pillow under hips instead reduces lower back strain. Stomach sleeping is HARD on the neck regardless of pillow.

Combination sleepers

Adjustable pillow (Coop Original, Layla Kapok) โ€” add/remove fill to suit position.

FAQ

How many pillows fit on each bed size?

Twin: 1 standard. Full: 2 standard. Queen: 2 standard or 2 queen. King/Cal King: 2 king. Add Euro shams for decorative.

How often should I replace pillows?

Standard/down: 1โ€“2 years. Memory foam: 2โ€“3 years. Buckwheat hull: 5โ€“10 years (replace hulls every 2). Fold a pillow in half โ€” if it doesn't spring back open, replace.

Best pillow for neck pain?

Cervical / contour memory foam pillow with a curved shape. Try Tempur-Pedic, Coop Original, or Saatva Latex. Match height to your sleep position (see above).

Pregnancy pillow vs body pillow?

Pregnancy pillows are U or C-shaped to support belly + back simultaneously. Body pillows are straight (one-sided support). For pregnancy: get pregnancy-specific (Snoogle, Boppy).
